Most Lakeland homeowners asking about a bathroom remodel want a dollar figure. We do not give one number over the phone, because a hall bath refresh is not a primary walk-in shower. You get the full price in writing after the free consultation, before tile comes out. That is the rule on every True Builders job.
Below is what we commit to before we walk the room, and what Florida bathrooms typically cost this year.
What we commit to up front
Timeline. Most bathroom remodels on our bathroom remodeling page run 2 to 4 weeks once work begins, depending on scope and material lead times. We confirm the schedule before we start.
Consultation. The in-home visit and the showroom visit are free. You see tile, vanities, and fixtures in person. Then you get a fixed-scope estimate.
Financing. Projects up to $65,000 on approved credit, with 0 percent APR promotional plans up to 24 months for eligible customers. Checking options is a soft credit check. Details live on the financing page.
License. Florida general contractor CBC1258346. Family-owned since 2009. Offices in Lakeland (2829 Badger Rd #19) and Plant City, with crews in Auburndale.
A number you saw on another site is not our quote.
Typical Florida bathroom costs
Industry cost guides put a mid-range Florida full bath between $10,000 and $25,000 in 2026. Powder-room or fixture refreshes run lower. A large primary bath with a curbless shower and custom tile can pass $40,000. Tampa Bay contractor guides put a standard full remodel around $15,000 to $28,000.
Those are planning numbers, not a True Builders quote.
Angi puts the national average near $12,000, with a wide band under and over that. Polk County labor is usually closer to Tampa than to Miami, but Florida humidity still drives waterproofing, ventilation, and mold work that a dry-climate quote skips.
$5,000 can cover a cosmetic refresh if the pan, plumbing, and substrate are sound. $10,000 is enough for some hall baths and not enough for a primary gut with a relocated shower. The only honest answer is the written number after we see the room.
What you pay for on a typical job
- You call (863) 647-1800 or book a consult and describe the bath.
- We meet at the house or the showroom.
- We check the pan, the ventilation, the plumbing, and whether the layout has to move.
- You get the price in writing. Nothing starts until you say yes.
The price does not change mid-job unless you approve extra work. Soft drywall or a failed pan that we find after demo gets quoted before we keep going.
Tell us the city, which bath, whether you want a walk-in shower or to keep a tub, and whether you already have leaks or soft tile.
What waiting usually costs
A dated bath is uncomfortable. A failing shower pan in Florida humidity is a restoration invoice.
Mold can start in 24 to 48 hours on wet drywall here. A leak you keep caulking is how a bath remodel turns into floor repair, cabinet replacement in the room next door, and a longer outage. We do not quote mold remediation on this page. The point is the gap. Opening the bath on purpose is cheaper than opening it after the ceiling stains.
If the room already smells musty, if grout keeps cracking, or if the floor feels soft at the shower curb, that is a bathroom remodeling call, not another tube of caulk.
Lakeland and the rest of Polk
We run Lakeland work from the Badger Rd office. Bathroom and kitchen remodeling in Lakeland covers the lakes, Lakeland Highlands, Kathleen, Highland City, Mulberry, and Gibsonia. Older homes near the lakes often hide plumbing and electrical once the walls open. Newer subdivision baths are usually a finish and layout problem, not a failing structure.
The same pricing rule applies in Brandon, Davenport, Winter Haven, and Wesley Chapel. The truck may leave a different office. The quote still happens after we see the room.
